Following Michael Jackson’s death in 2009, esteemed fashion and fine art photographer David Lachapelle staged this photograph with a Michael Jackson impersonator at Lachapelle’s estate in Hawaii. This powerful image was used as the cover of the Sunday Times in September of that year, and has since been featured in numerous media publications. Known for his controversial art and fashion photography, the piece is a part of Lachapelle’s 2009 “American Jesus” series on Michael Jackson.
