The alphabet as a symbol of everyday icons or as Johns referred it as things the mind already knows. All 26 letters of the alphabet are repeated and superimposed in layers. By mounting them one on top of each other, Johns creates a complex abstract composition to address the modes of perception and the individuality of each letter.
