Kees Van Dongen, Claudine (c.1950) is a color lithograph on wove paper. It is signed in the lower right, and numbered in the lower left from the edition of 24 artist proof aside from the addition of 150. This print features a female portrait dresses in blue against a yellow-orange bright background.

Kees van Dongen was a Dutch-French artist known for his vibrant paintings and prints of almond-eyed women and bourgeois leisure scenes. He was one of the leading Fauves. Van Dongen’s early work was influenced by the Hague School and symbolism and it evolved gradually into a rough pointillist style. The themes of his work from that period are predominantly centered around the nightlife; he paints dancers, singers, masquerades and theatre. Van Dongen gained a reputation for his sensuous – at times garish – portraits of especially women.
